Winter Camp

Have you ever considered camping out in the depths of winter with only a tarp or a tent between you and maybe -5?

If you have then this overnighter is for you. Arrive at camp at 13.00 day one and after an orientation of camp and safety briefing

you will then set up your chosen sleep system. If you have ever fancied sleeping in a hammock under a tarp but don't want to invest your hard earned cash until you know you like it then this is a fantastic opportunity to use our kit and try it out.

When you have set up your own camp area and eaten your meal then you will join everyone around the camp fire to make and test some primitive lights using nuts, oils etc. The rest of the evening can be spent round the camp fire or you can have an early night ready for a full day two.

Day 2 - After breakfast we will head into learning essential knife skills for bushcraft. Looking at knife safety, knife selection, how to sharpen and maintain your knife, either at a fixed camp or on the trail.

Fire lighting will be the next objective:

  • Methods of fire lighting
  • Siting your fire
  • Tinders, natural and man made
  • Coal extenders
  • Fire lays
  • Clearing away your fire
